Privacy policy

Recap Scout collects only the information needed to operate accounts, understand site usage, and maintain useful community features.

Information we store

When you sign in, we store your name when supplied, email address, verification status, authentication provider, and session information such as IP address and browser user agent. Recap Scout does not require a password for new sign-ins. We also store your votes, favorite TV shows, favorite podcast networks, and catalog submissions.

Authentication and spam prevention

You can authenticate through Google or a single-use link delivered by email. Google receives information needed to complete Google sign-in. Public, state-changing forms use Google reCAPTCHA, which may evaluate device, browser, network, and interaction signals to distinguish people from automated abuse.

Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 across the site to measure page visits and completed actions such as searching, opening a podcast, choosing a listening service, voting, saving a show, submitting a suggestion, or using a share option. Analytics events may include the relevant public show or podcast name and identifier, device and browser information, approximate location derived from an IP address, and referral information. We do not send account email addresses, sign-in links, submission notes, or other free-form account content to Google Analytics.

How we use it

We use this information to authenticate you, prevent voting abuse and spam, personalize your dashboard, calculate community rankings, improve discovery and navigation, review submissions, and maintain site security. We do not sell personal information.

Service providers

Recap Scout may use Vercel for application hosting, Neon for PostgreSQL hosting, Resend for account email, and Google for sign-in, reCAPTCHA, and site analytics. Those providers process limited data needed to deliver their services under their own privacy terms.

Retention and deletion

You can request account deletion from your dashboard and confirm it through the link sent to your email. This removes your account, sessions, favorites, submissions, and votes. Public vote totals are recalculated when your votes are removed. Security logs, aggregated analytics, and backups may persist according to provider retention schedules.

Your choices

You can request access or correction, remove favorites, change votes, or delete your account. Browser privacy controls and content blockers may also affect analytics. For privacy questions, contact hello@recapscout.cm.
